Abbeyquarter Men’s Group (ABQMG)

Abbeyquarter Men’s Group (ABQMG) is in existence since 13th May 2010 and has held their weekly meetings in the Abbeyquarter Community Centre. To date the men have undertaken several activities such as fishing, swimming, art and literacy classes, pitch and putt, and visits to other Men’s Groups. The men deserve much credit and thanks from the community of Cranmore where they are very pro-active in undertaking projects around the estate on a voluntary basis.
Recently the group have decided to avail of Cranmore Co-op premises as a place to meet to get together and develop as a men’s group. This relaxed home from home atmosphere will be a place where the men can meet to read the papers, and have a cup of tea. They also wish to go on the internet to practice the skills they have learned through their computer courses. There is a computer room available for the men with computers on hand for their use.
It is further planned to practice their culinary skills with ideas such as taking turns to cook a meal for the group. Tony Gorman has indicated that he will be first to the cooker with a dish to be remembered.
The Co-op premises are also home to a large television with the sports channels package which will be welcomed by the group.
The group wish to extend an invitation to any men in the Abbeyquarter area to join their group and anyone wishing to find out more can contact Gary Kelly on 0872441745
