As an incentive to the young people a day at an adventure centre with an environmental theme was held. The group attended Tullyboy Farm in Boyle, Co. Roscommon on the 10th April 2012. This outing proved to be a fun, interesting and educational experience for the youth and leaders. As can be seen from the photographs the group were very interested in the Rural Life Kitchen & Museum which retains many features of the Ireland of 50 to 100 years ago.
The farm itself has the atmosphere of a real working farm and the group were allowed to hand feed the animals up close under the watchful eye of Farmer Matt. This was a great experience for a group of urban children to hand feed IImas, Emus, Pigs and Puppies alike. The youth also experienced a roller-coaster ride in a seated covered tractor trailer around the farm where they fed horses, foals and a bullock. A mini tractor barrel ride also took place; this was of special interest to the children as the farmer explained how recycled old barrels were the base of his invention. The day finished with a straw dive in the barn for hidden Easter eggs.
