Showing Children Nature

Nature is fun for the children, a simple walk around the block into the wild things. Morning to night, they don’t get out and they don’t get to see nature. It’s all estates or let’s go to an adventure centre. It’s not getting into the wild things and they love it. They’re learning and they’re interested. Kids do want to learn things and it’s fun showing them that nature is everywhere, including all around here, and it’s beautiful.

Our Biodiversity and Tree Nursery project won an Aontas Star Award in 2022!

Our Community Water Project

Through our community garden and water projects we raise awareness of water quality issues, and promote sustainability such as collecting and using rainwater.

Community Garden

The Community Garden is open throughout the spring and summer till the end of September, Tuesdays 11–1pm, Thursdays 11–1pm and Thursday evenings. The garden provides inclusive activities for all members of the community to enjoy together. Participants from the National Learning Network and Rehab Care Group come to the garden weekly.

Testimonials from the National Learning Network (NLN)

 The Customer Service programme

"Michael a student on the Customer Service programme at NLN Sligo completed his work experience placement at Cranmore Co-Op. Michael thoroughly enjoyed his time there over an 18 month period where he worked closely with Connie, Ibrahim and all the team. Michael worked in the polytunnel, sowed bulbs and vegetables in the allotment, helped install the new kitchen, cleaned areas inside and outside, put up the signage, attended the exercise class and First Aid training and overall learned so much. We at NLN Sligo appreciate the help, kindness and guidance shown to Michael during his time on the placement and he will return to the Co-Op in a volunteer capacity on course completion. Thank you Cranmore Co-Op."

The Access and Link Programmes

"The Cranmore Cafe and Gardens have always made our NLN Access/Link students welcome, taking part in planting, picking and pressing flowers, Art & Crafts and other workshops on offer, and gave them a space to meet their friends, socialise, develop independence, and take part in work experiences. Nicole volunteered in the Cafe and we all went along to support her and to enjoy the biscuits and delicious coffee. It's been a regular weekly social outlet for us and we look forward to coming back!"
